Hendrix is a planetary scientist known for her pioneering studies of solar system bodies at ultraviolet wavelengths. She is a senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute and has worked on many NASA planetary missions.

Collaboration: Wohlforth and Hendrix were co-authors of this major popular science book, work which included a joint nationwide book tour.
