Lisa Murkowski has represented Alaska since 2002, making her the fifth most senior Republican member of the U.S. Senate. A 2018 headline in the New York Times declared Murkowski had “Mastered Trump’s Washington.” In 2021, she was the only Republican senator up for re-election to vote to convict President Trump in his Senate impeachment trial. He vowed to defeat her and traveled to Alaska to campaign for Murkowski’s opponent, but she was re-elected and has continued her independent and principled service in the Senate. He current term lasts through 2028.
Charles Wohlforth works closely with Murkowski on an ongoing basis. The nature of their collaboration has not yet been announced (March 2024).
